Foster Program
We welcome new Foster homes for our dog/cat population who sometimes don't have a spot in our Shelter or are not old enough to remain on their own. Each Foster home must follow the Department of Agriculture Rules. The following is a guideline of what is required to be a Foster Home:
- Allow a home-visit inspection prior to any animals being fostered (This is required by the State).
- All foster homes must have adequate space, ventilation, fire extinguishers, and fire alarms in place.
- Once approved the shelter works to contact Foster Homes for placement.
Generally the Foster Homes care for orphaned and neo-natal puppies and kittens until the age of 7-8 weeks. Other opportunities to foster are animals that are not adjusting well to shelter life and need extra socialization skills prior to adoption.
If you are interested please contact us at either the Shelter or either of our Thrift Stores. We will be glad to have you!!
