We were founded in 1987 and serve Towns and Union County (Blairsville, Hiawassee and Young Harris) as a private, non-profit, charitable organization. We are dedicated to preventing; overpopulation, cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment of animals. The Humane Society Mountain Shelter provides custodial care to animals within our facility looking for a perfect match for you!

George
is a 2 year old American Bulldog / Mix who loves to play! He
needs a good back yard. He has some challenges with other dogs; so,
if you already have a dog and are thinking of adopting George, bring
them by to make sure they will be good playmates. George is a
rescued stray and needs a family as strong minded as he is.
Gracie
is a 2 year old grey & white cat. She is timid and will do better in
a calm household. She has been living in the open cat room; so, she
is adjusted to being around other cats. She has been spayed,
micro-chipped and is current on all her shots.

The Humane Society Mountain Shelter has two Thrift Store locations for your shopping pleasure (Blairsville and Hiawassee); we carry household items, furniture, electronics, books, linens, and we are able to offer all these items by the generosity of our neighbors. If you can think it, we probably have it! We also move with the times and have items listed on eBay!
